Willams de Lima (Will) is a PhD candidate at the Centro de Informática in Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Brazil, and an R&D Project Leader at Voxar Labs. His research is focused on human behavior recognition and description under the supervision of Estefanía Talavera (University of Twente, The Netherlands) and Veronica Teichrieb (Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Brazil). Will also collaborate with research partners in The Netherlands and Canada, as well as with industry partners such as HP, Samsung, and Volkswagen. At Voxar Labs, he leads a research team dedicated to developing approaches for emotion recognition in unconstrained scenarios, applying these technologies to solve real-world problems. Will is also an active member of the scientific community, acting as a reviewer and committee member for several national and international scientific conferences and journals such as IEEE Access and Journal on Interactive Systems. His dedication also extends to the mentoring of students in the fields of AI in LatinX communities.

I am a mechatronics engineer from Tingo Maria, Peru, graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) with interest in the areas of robotics, autonomous vehicles, machine learning and computer vision. Over three years, my research adventures span four countries, my work includes cardiac image registration optimization at Oxford University (United Kingdom), visible light communication for autonomous navigation at TU Delft (The Netherlands), multi-body dynamics at Universität Duisburg Essen (Germany) and underwater photogrammetry at my home university. I have authored five papers, which demonstrates my commitment to cutting-edge research. My goal is to become a researcher to contribute to my society by improving research opportunities and educational level. Beyond academia, I enjoy hiking in nature and bird photography.

Javier is a Data/AI Software Engineer and AI research student, with experience in data science and full-stack development. He is passionate about exploring the frontiers of ML research, especially in areas of computer vision, AI in healthcare and social good, and NLP and has published papers in conferences in the past. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and engaging with the ML community, so he teaches data science at Le Wagon remotely and leads ML projects as an ML Club President at Universidad Panamericana. In his spare time, Javier likes to keep learning on various topics by using Kaggle, creating open-source projects and experimenting with novel neural architectures.

Full professor at the Department of Computing, São Paulo State University (Brazil), with more than 15 years of experience in artificial intelligence. He is a CNPq (Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development), Alexander von Humboldt (Germany) Fellow, IEEE Senior Member, and the Brazilian chair at the International Association for Pattern Recognition. He worked as a visiting scholar at the Center for Brain Sciences at Harvard University (USA) during 2014-2015.

Bio:
My name is Sebastian Paucar, and I am a fourth-year student of Physics Engineering at the National University of Engineering in Peru. Currently, I am undertaking an academic exchange at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and soon I will be embarking on a research internship at the University of Alberta, focusing on the application of machine learning in drug discovery. I am passionate about everything related to deep learning, particularly its applications in biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, and quantum computing applied to solid-state physics, that is, quantum hardware. Currently, I serve as a Quantum Intern at QuantumQuipu, where I work on building quantum circuits to simulate the thermal response of a spin chain governed by a 2D Heisenberg Hamiltonian. I employ techniques such as block encoding and amplitude amplification to study the formation of skyrmions.

I'm a second-year Robotics and Digital Systems Engineering student in Mexico, passionate about tech and exploration. My drone research focused on UAVs for mapping, complemented by internships on campus and a brief collaboration with Hyper-Kamiokande. I'm fascinated by low-level programming, embedded applications, enjoy chess and mountain biking, and aspire to pursue a Master's and Ph.D in the field of robotics and computer science.

I'm drawn to low-level programming languages in my pursuit of efficient and impactful solutions in computer science and robotics. My interest in robotics leans towards non-manufacturing industrial applications. Equally captivated by machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision, I'm particularly intrigued by challenges that demand efficiency, especially on embedded systems. Exploring the lower levels of programs, like drivers and OS, fuels my curiosity. Looking ahead, I emphasize developing solutions for robotics and DL that work seamlessly on smaller, resource-constrained devices, ensuring widespread integration into our daily lives.

Bio:
Ph.D. Student at Tecnológico de Monterrey, working on XAI and Causality to improve the efficiency of medical image classifiers and explainable methods applied to self-explainable DL models. He studied for a bachelor's degree in mechatronics and a master's in science with a specialty in intelligent systems. He has served as presentation chair of the Latinx in Computer Vision Workshops at CVPR and ICCV, as well as other conferences. He likes to know about ML/AI, games, gadgets, innovations, and space, as well as news and ideas related to the field of deep learning.

Belu Ticona is pursuing her degree in Computer Science at University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She's worked as a teaching assistant and science communicator in the CS Department, as well as served as the student representative on the CS Council. Her previous experiences include data science internships at Medallia and Microsoft. She's currently doing research on indigenous languages spoken in Argentina. Outside of academics, she loves dancing and discovering new hobbies.

Bio:
I am a mechatronics engineer from the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente (UAO). Now, I'm enroll in the AI specialization program of the University. Throughout my career I have focused mainly in two areas: robotic perception and neurorobotics. In this first field, under the direction of PhD Juan Carlos Perafán and PhD Victor Romero Cano, I have focused on works related to SLAM and map reconstruction from point cloud information in indoor and outdoor using multi-sensor fusion. I have been part of research projects between MIT and UAO on these topics. On the other hand, with the direction of PhD David Ramirez Moreno we have designed, simulated and implemented in physical robots bio-inspired neural models for navigation and decision making of robotic systems. We have published two articles in the IEEE ColCACI and Frontiers in Neurorobotics.

I'm a Machine Learning and Computer Vision Engineer specializing in healthcare applications. My passion lies in creating and deploying intelligent systems capable of interpreting and deriving valuable insights from medical data and images. With a solid foundation in Computer Science, earned through my degree from UFAL, and having worked at IBM as a Data Scientist, I have been honing my skills with practical exposure to machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing concepts. I'm committed to advancing my career in academia and becoming a recognized authority in the field of AI for healthcare. Thus, I've intention to pursue a master's program as a stepping stone towards my ultimate goal of obtaining a doctoral degree.

João Gabriel is currently an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Software Engineering at the Federal University of Goiás. With over a year of experience in the biometric recognition industry, specifically in fingerprint and facial recognition systems. He is also involved in research within the realms of Computer Vision and Machine Learning at the Center of Excellence in AI, in Brazil. In his leisure time, he enjoys activities such as running and going to the gym.

Bio:
Enzo holds a permenent position as CONICET faculty researcher in Argentina, leading a research group on machine learning methods for biological and medical image analysis at the Research institute for signals, systems and computational intelligence (CONICET / Universidad Nacional del Litoral) in Santa Fe, Argentina. He is also a professor at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and Universidad de San Andrés, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2012 he received his Systems Engineering Degree from UNICEN University, Tandil, Argentina. In May 2016, he defended his PhD thesis in Computer Sciences, at the Université Paris-Saclay (CentraleSupeléc / INRIA) in France (Paris) where he worked on deformable registration of multimodal medical images, using graphical models and discrete optimization techniques, under the supervision of Prof. Nikos Paragios. After that, until August 2017, he was a postdoc research associate at Imperial College London (BioMedIA lab), under the supervision of Prof. Ben Glocker working on deep learning and brain image segmentation. He has also worked at several research institutes around the world. In 2023, he was a visiting professor at Université Paris-Saclay in France, for 5 months. In 2021, he received a Fulbright Fellowship to visit the A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging (Massachusetts General Hospital - Harvard Medical School) in Boston. In 2014, as PhD intern he spend 3 months working on shape understanding for the Computer Vision and Geometry Lab at Stanford University, California, USA.

I am Maria Luisa Lima and I am a student of Computer Science at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco's Master's program. I work as a researcher at Voxar Labs, a Computer Vision and Virtual/Augmented reality laboratory, where I have done research on emotion recognition and worked on several Research and Development projects, under the mentorships of Dr. Willams de Lima and Dr. Veronica Teichrieb. My research interests include Emotion Recognition, Fairness and Explainable AI. I intend to focus my Master's research on fairness in emotion recognition.

Michael Rojas is a Physics student at the National Engineering University of Peru and works at Thoth Biosimulations Inc. under the direction of Dr. Khaled Barakat. With a project internship at the University of Alberta in Canada, he developed programming for protein-ligand interactions, showing his expertise in computational methods. His research interests involve machine learning, biophysics and computer vision, with the goal of leveraging these areas for impactful biological research and early cancer detection.

Bio:
Hernán Abaunza González graduated as a mechatronics engineer from the Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2012. He received a Master of Science degree in Autonomous Aerial and Submarine Navigation Systems from CINVESTAV-IPN in 2014, and a Doctorate in Robotics and Automation from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC), in France, in 2019. He has worked as a teaching and research assistant at the Université de Technologie de Compiègne, as a post-doctoral researcher at the Institut Pascal, in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and as senior research engineer at FADA-CATEC, in Seville, Spain. The main topics in his research work have been related to drone control and navigation, such as the development of control laws for agile flight based on quaternions, trajectory generation algorithms, formation flight techniques for drone fleets, among others. He is the author and co-author of several scientific articles in international journals and conferences, as well as book chapters. Since 2021, he is a full-time professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Guadalajara campus, currently Director of the Robotics and Digital Systems Engineering Program.

Hi! I'm Carlos Suarez Gurruchaga, a Master's student at Universidad de San Andrés, with a background in electromechanical engineering from Universidad Argentina de la Empresa. I have a strong interest in the field of computer vision applications, specifically focusing on image segmentation, object detection and generative models. Currently, I'm working on a project titled “AI Deep Generative Models for Contrast Enhancement of MRI: Towards Needle-free and More Informative MRI Examination of the Heart.”. Under the supervision of Professor Qiang Zhang and Dr. Ricardo A. Gonzales at the University of Oxford's Radcliffe Department of Medicine for the Google CSR Program. This work aims to revolutionise CMR examinations, providing additional resources for more accurate, fast and comprehensive assessments of heart conditions.

Matías Berríos, in his final year at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile studying Software Engineering with a Data Science minor, is involved in research aimed at leveraging AI for health science advancements. Under the guidance of Profs. Christian Mata and Gilberto Ochoa Ruiz, he is focusing on improving brain imaging classification interpretability in advanced deep learning models. Simultaneously, he works under Professor Daniel Hurtado on using deep learning techniques for the morphometric analysis of animal respiratory systems. Matías aims to continue applying his expertise in AI, software engineering, and data science to create meaningful change and solve problems in the field of healthcare.

JORGE VALVERDE-REBAZA obtained his Ph.D. (2017) and Master's degree (2013) in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He conducted scientific and research visits at the Laboratory of Informatics, Robotics, and Microelectronics of Montpellier (LIRMM) at the University of Montpellier, France, in 2015, and at the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) at the University of Porto, Portugal, in 2014. An expert in Artificial Intelligence with a focus on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Large Language Models, Data Mining, and Complex Networks, he has worked as an Engineer, Consultant, AI & Tech Lead, Project Manager, Researcher, and educator on projects related to Social Computing, Urban Computing, Health, Data Science & Analytics, and Software Engineering. Jorge Valverde-Rebaza has published more than 20 scientific papers in conferences and high-impact journals, has won best paper awards, has attracted several funds for research and innovation projects, and has received several recognitions for his teaching work. He works as a full professor at Tecnologico de Monterrey, where he carries out research focused on Artificial Intelligence applications on topics related to sentiment analysis, future skills, among others.

Lidia Talavera Martínez is an Assistant Professor at the Soft Computing, Image Processing, and Aggregation (SCOPIA) group at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). In 2017, Lidia obtained a Master's degree in Computer Vision from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) at the Computer Vision Center (CVC). During 2018, she conducted research services as part of the Cajal Blue Brain Project at the Biomedical Research Center (CTB) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Since 2023, has held a PhD in Information and Communications Technology from the UIB. Lidia's research primarily focuses on computer vision, deep and multitask learning, and their applications in medical images, mainly in the analysis of skin lesions in dermoscopic images.
